Jake and the Never Land Pirates and My Kids

Jake and the Never Land PiratesArrr, thar be a birthday on the horizon for that lovable sea pup Jake of Jake and the Never Land Pirates fame. You know the one, the cute kid stranded in Never Land with his friends, Captain Hook, and tons of gold doubloons to count. They seem happy enough.

Disney Junior is celebrating Jake’s birthday on Friday, March 1, and they want your child to join in by wishing Jake a “yo-ho happy birthday” in a video via the website. Then, during Jake’s Birthday Bash, they might be able to see said video ON THE TV! That’s right, your kid has potentially made it.

My family attended a special kick-off for Jake at the El Captain Theatre in Hollywood complete with games (pin the tail on the crocodile), breakfast, and a few songs from the swashbuckling duo of Sharky and Bones. They even hung out with Jake for a minute, which was nice.

Did I mention Radio Disney was there? It was a party, people!

All of that was followed with a screening of Peter Pan, also of Never Land fame, which features a much meaner Captain Hook (this may alarm kids who only know the bumbling, stumbling, fumbling Captain they see on Jake’s version of the island).

Basically, Jake has been milking this birthday for well over a month and he has the treasure to prove it. That’s why he won’t suspect a thing on Friday morning (8:30am/7:30c) when Disney Junior airs Jake’s SURPRISE PARTY! That’s right, it’s a surprise. Turns out, pirates love surprises. Who knew?

We will be joining Jake (via the DVR) for his birthday bash, and it should be a lot of fun. Will your kids be there?

PS—Jake, if you are reading this, gold doubloons make a wonderful goody bag.
