A few months back my wife went away to NYC and left me alone with our two little ones for the first extended time ever. It was to be a monumentally challenging set of days for me and for them, so I decided to do something I had never done before.
I did a live-blog through the entire weekend. Monica chimed in too, when she wasn’t dancing on the bar at Coyote Ugly.
I’d never done anything like that before. In fact, I hadn’t even really ever looked at any live-blogs before really. I just knew that it was something that people did sometimes. Still, it was something that seemed intriguing from a humorous standpoint. You couldn’t take it too seriously, I figured.
Plus I love to write and I don’t need an excuse to find a new way to do that. In that light, it sort of seemed like a cool challenge to me as well.
You had to entertain people and draw ‘em in if it was going to work at all. Of course, I had no idea that both my kids would end up sick as dogs within freakin’ minutes of their Mommy leaving. The end result was something I was happy with, a little cyber-diary of random thoughts and facts and ponderings that you could take or leave since it was free as hell and nobody was pointing a gun at your head.
Enough people dug it though that I have been itching to try it out again when the whole family was around (and not covered in hives and puking and staying awake all damn night!)
So, I figured this weekend was as good as any. It’s Memorial Day weekend, the kickoff to SUMMER!
This weekend it is then. Please join us if you can. We’ll be over at our He Said/She Said blog here at Babble.com. And we’ll be updating a lot. I’ve already been writing since early this morning.
Okay,see ya’ll out by the cyber-grill!
