The Best of Dadding: “You’re An Idiot” Edition

Whoa! It’s been an incredibly fun, busy week here at Dadding!

I’m off at the Dad 2.0 Summit in Austin, wondering what on earth prompted me to sign-up for an early morning running race, before embarking on a full day of conference panels.

But again, that’s what these things are about: connections. And I hope to see you there. If not, I’ll have an update of conference highlights next week.

But back to the best of the week. In the Dadding Hall of Justice, Serge freaking kills it in his takedown of child star-cum-moron Kirk Cameron. My favorite part of this whole episode — and episodes just like them — is when someone, like Kirk, says something vile and reprehensible and then gets annoyed when people call him on the BS. They argue, “I’ve got a right to my opinion! People should be more tolerant of opinions!” Um … you just offered your opinion on national TV! No one is questioning your rights to say stupid things. As for the rest of us sitting back and being tolerant of intolerance … that’s another story.

So I guess I had a lot more to say on that than I thought. Go check out Serge’s story and the comments section; at the very least, it will give you a better idea of where I got my favorite headline ever.

In other Dadding news, I took on the anti-coffee cabal. I know: Taking a stand ….

Michael paints his daughter’s room in hues to break your heart … (But please people, for the love of not-Kirk Cameron’s god, let’s remember that little girls aren’t all sweetness and sheltering. They can throw an arm bar like nobody’s business.)

Sweet jesus, it’s opinion day here, isn’t it?

It may not have happened in this week … but it’s still worth checking out: The edible baby helmet from Charlie and Andy.

Is that not the best way to end the week? Awesome.
