Fell in love with him in 1985, and haven’t looked back since.
I suppose it has a lot to do with 18 of his films being based on books – very appealing to a word nerd like me – and the fact he’s awfully nice to look at. Two words: Mad Hatter. Or, three words that make you stop looking at me that way: Captain Jack Sparrow.
And now that Depp moved his production company, Infinitum Nihil, to Disney, we have even more Deppage to look forward to – an adaptation of Into the Woods (yep, he’ll be singing), a remake of Don Quixote, a fifth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean adventure, and a yet-to-be-confirmed-yet-pretty-concretely-rumored sequel to Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland in which he’ll reprise his iconic role as the eccentric Hatter.
Depp has starred in seven mouse-eared movies to date – four Pirates of the Caribbean films, the aforementioned Alice in Wonderland, Ed Wood and most recently, The Lone Ranger.
To that end, check out five of his most memorable Disney movie quotes, along with very, very important photos of his beautiful alien face. The man doesn’t age!
BECAUSE YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH DEPPAGE… 1 of 6
A collection of his most memorable mouse-eared quotes:
THE MAD HATTER 2 of 6
"On the Frabjous Day, when the White Queen once again wears the crown. On that day, I shall futterwacken... vigorously." - Mad Hatter
And man, does he. Well, through movie magic anyway. Watch.
ED WOOD 3 of 6
Ed: "Why, if I had half a chance, I could make an entire movie using this stock footage. The story opens on these mysterious explosions. Nobody knows what's causing them, but it's upsetting all the buffalo. So, the military are called in to solve the mystery."
Editor on Studio Lot: "You forgot the octopus."
Ed: "No, no, I'm saving that for my big underwater climax."
Makes me chuckle every time. Also, just me or does Depp look a lot like Walt Disney in this still?
TONTO 4 of 6
"There come a time, when good man must wear mask." - Tonto
ICONIC, you guys. Iconic.
CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW: DEAD MAN’S CHEST 5 of 6
Jack to Elizabeth: "You know, these clothes do not flatter you at all. It should be a dress or nothing. I happen to have no dress in my cabin."
CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW: AT WORLD’S END 6 of 6
Jack Sparrow: "You know, for all that pirates are clever-called, we are an unimaginative lot when it comes to naming things."
Gibbs: [nods] "Aye."
Jack Sparrow: "I once sailed with a geezer lost both his arms and part of his eye."
Gibbs: "What did you call him?"
Jack Sparrow: [pause] "Larry."
Tell me I'm not the only one who finds this absolutely knee-slapping hilarious!
