Every Mile is Magic: Sean Astin Shares runDisney Inspiration

Sean Astin runDisney | Babble60,000 runners will chase their dreams during Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend from Jan. 8-12 at Walt Disney World, as they take on runDisney Kids Races, Disney Family Fun Run 5k, (new) Walt Disney World 10k, Walt Disney World 1/2 Marathon and Walt Disney World Marathon.

And then there’s the inaugural Dopey Challenge.

Spanning 48.6 miles and four parks in four days, you have to be Dopey to do it. (Guessing that’s how the race was named.)

Still, there’s something magical about running through castles and down main streets at Disney Parks, and it feels a lot like pixie dust and happy thoughts. Until you stop running and your muscles scream and you shuffle around like Carl from UP that is. Then it hurts. So. Good.

Sean Astin knows. The Special Agent Oso and Lord of the Rings actor is a regular runDisney runner himself, having started his own #run3rd project as way to share the inspiration he gains from running.

“I love that I can be completely at peace and yet simultaneously connected to 30,000 other people at the same time,” he says. “Disney magic is wonderful, and the RunDisney Team is a class act. It really brings joy to an already meaningful activity.”

And while he has only participated in Disneyland-based races to date, Astin hopes to run in all runDisney events in the future.

“I am constantly learning new things throughout my journey as a runner,” he says. “Disney races are special. I, along with thousands of others, set my calendar by the Tink and Princess races, and everything else on the evolving slate of increasingly ambitious events. The Disney audience is fiercely loyal, which is always pressing people to do just a little more.”

And hey, it’s always kind of fun to do the impossible, right?
