Have you heard of Disney XD’s new show Mighty Med? My kids sure have, and they are really looking forward to it. To be honest, I’m pretty excited, too. Here’s why:
Mighty Med is a new live-action comedy series starring popular Disney Channel stars Bradley Steven Perry (Good Luck Charlie) as Kaz and Jake Short (A.N.T. Farm) as Oliver, plus newcomer Paris Berelc as Skylar Storm and Devan Leos (Madea’s Witness Protection) as Alan.
The show follows the adventures of two teenage best friends Kaz (Perry) and Oliver (Short) who land after-school jobs at Mighty Med, a secret hospital for superheroes, sci-fi, and fantasy characters. That’s when they discover that their favorite characters are actually real and secretly living among us — basically the same superhero suspicion/wish that I’ve had since I saw my first cape!
Kaz and Oliver must learn to navigate their way through two colliding worlds, and they enlist the help of superhero Skylar Storm (Berelc) and the Chief of Staff’s nephew Alan Diaz (Leos) to make it happen. The boys’ friendship and extensive knowledge of superheroes, sci-fi, and fantasy worlds give them the extraordinary power to become heroes themselves —they get to save the people who save people.
Basically, the main characters are super fans that have their wildest dream come true, which is nice. And in case you were wondering what kind of things the cast of Mighty Med are fans of in their own lives, here is an exclusive video answering just that:
The series was created by Emmy Award-nominee Jim Bernstein (Disney’s Phineas and Ferb) and Andy Schwartz (Scrubs). Emmy Award-nominee Stephen Engel (Disney Channel’s A.N.T. Farm, The Big Bang Theory) and Bernstein serve as executive producers and Schwartz serves as supervising producer.
Mighty Med premieres as a special one-hour event Monday, October 7 (8:30-9:30 p.m., ET/PT). Check-in and check it out!
