Walt Disney once said, “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.” And apparently there is a whole lot of imagination still going strong because Disneyland has gone with a whole slew of changes, taking away the old to make room for the new.
The Disney History Institute put together a video homage to how Disneyland once was when it first opened back in 1955. In the video “Disneyland Voce” they used a variety of home movies as their source, which is completely fascinating since it shows the Magic Kingdom through the lens of the visitor rather than a marketing department. In the footage there are many things that have stayed the same from the Jungle Cruise, to Main Street, to the horse and buggy transporting visitors. But there is much that has changed, like the miniature horse corral, horseback riding, boat rides and an organ grinder with dancing monkey.
