First Look: The 30th Annual Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade! (VIDEO)

NEIL PATRICK HARRIS PERFORMS AND HOSTS DISNEY PARKS CHRISTMAS DAY TV SPECIAL

Waking up on Christmas morning means two things at our house: excited kidlets thundering down the stairs to see what Santa brought, and snuggling up on the couch with fresh-baked cinnamon rolls and savory maple sausages to watch the annual Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade.

It’s become one of our favorite holiday traditions, and this year, the parade will celebrate its 30th anniversary on December 25 at 10am EST/9am PST on ABC!

Hosted by Neil Patrick Harris at Walt Disney World and Nick Cannon at Disneyland, it’s the holiday highlight for tried-and-true Disney fans, and as you can imagine, bringing that kind of large scale mouse-eared magic to the merry masses takes months of preparation.

Carter Schultz, a producer for the Parade, told Disney Insider: “Preparing for the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade is a year-round process. From Host and performer selections to set designs, from costuming and choreography (with 500+ dancers) to hand-selecting a marching band… the planning and production of a television show on this scale often takes a year or more to prepare.”

That’s 365 days of elbow grease and pixie dust.

Whew!

Just take a look at what happens behind-the-scenes:

And don’t miss Disney Insider’s photo gallery offering up a sneak peek at the parade awesome to come!
