Have you ever seen an episode of Zach Galifianakis‘ Between Two Ferns? The hirsute Hangover star has done a hilarious series for Funny or Die where he talks to a wide variety of super famous people from Justin Bieber to Jennifer Lawrence and the results are odd, sometimes awesome, and always uncomfortable.
When watching, it is pretty much impossible to question how much the guests are in on the joke, and thing is, we’ll probably never know. Like did Bieber know that Galifianakis was going to try to hit him with his belt? And in the newest installment of Between Two Ferns, Galifianakis ups the ante from pop and movie stars to the President of the United States. Yup, Barack Obama sat down between the ferns. And you know what, it was awesome!
The delivery, the timing, and the deadpan stares from Obama are priceless, showing that after his presidential run is over, he may have a job in comedy. It is 6 minutes and 30 seconds of pure awesome. During the interview Galifianakis sighs and says, “Okay, let’s get this out of the way. What did you come here to plug?” And plug away he did. The reason for this bizarre online appearance was to appeal to young Americans to sign up for the Affordable Care Act. You know what, it totally works. I can not think of another President who would take a chance like that, to appeal to the public through such an unconventional way.
