Alanis Morissette ‘Loves’ Her Bikini Body and So Should You

One way to let everyone know how you feel about your bikini body is to spell it out — literally. Alanis Morissette did just that while vacationing in Hawaii as photos in Us Weekly magazine revealed.

The tattooed singer strolled along the beach wearing a mismatched black and white bikini with the words ‘Self Love’ bedazzled on the butt. I love this photo because she looks like a REAL person and totally, completely at ease with herself. Come to think of it — shouldn’t we all get that message on our bathing suits? I think every single suit in the world should automatically include it, even if just on the inside.

The 38-year old Grammy winner certainly looked calm and confident with her hair in a top knot as she played in the surf with her two-year old son, Ever. Husband Mario ‘MC Souleye’ Treadway’s 33rd birthday was the occasion for the family trip and Morissette commemorated the event by Tweeting the adorable Instagram shot (left) along with the message: “Happy birthday to my angel husband. xooxoxox @souleyephotos I love you honey.”

We know life hasn’t always been so serene for the Canadian singer who built her career out of angsty ballads. In the past, she’s been entirely open about the difficult times, specifically the dark hole she fell into after her Ryan Reynolds called off their engagement in 2006. Forgot about that one? She packed on the pounds and found herself in a place she didn’t want to be. (She recovered with a vegan diet and 5-day-a-week fitness regimen.) Then, in 2012 she shared that after Ever was born she battled an “intense” case of the Baby Blues.

Now as she approaches her 3rd wedding anniversary later this month, it looks as if all is well. If that changes, perhaps we’ll get another message.

What do you think of Morissette’s choice of bathing suit?
