Beverly Hills 9021-Oh My, They Are Parents Now

90210 logoDoes anyone else remember that episode in season one of Beverly Hills 90210 where Brandon decides to date Melissa, a senior at his high school? Oh and by the way, Melissa has a six month old son. She shows up at his door with her son and an excuse about a cancelled baby sitter and has to bolt or she will never make it in time to her Harvard interview. She thrusts her son into Brandon’s arms, gives him some perfunctory details about feeding and formula, and out she goes.

Of course what comes next is a laugh out loud episode where we watch Brandon live life as a parent for one day.

Cut to twenty plus years later and now Brandon, er, Jason Priestly is a father of two. Every single actor from the first season of Beverly Hills 90210 is a parent except for Shannen Doherty. However, Shannen recently married in 2011 so you never know…

The original cast are now parents to a combined total of 18 children. Soon that number will be 19. Earlier this week Ian Ziering announced that he and his wife, Erin, will welcome another baby girl in early May.

Life goes on for all of the original cast, even Douglas Emerson who played the ill-fated Scott Scanlon in season one. Douglas enjoys life as the father of two girls and is a former Air Force staff sergeant.

A year ago Old Navy staged a mini reunion for some of the original cast with a commercial for blue jeans. The ad reunited Jennie Garth, Jason Priestley, Gabrielle Carteris, and Luke Perry for tongue in cheek, you had to grow up with the show to get it, commercials.

On March 1st The CW announced that, after five seasons, they were canceling their modern revisiting of 90210. Jason gave a polite goodbye to the cast of the CW’s 90210 on twitter saying, “@THR: The CW’s ’90210′ to End After Five Seasons…” Lasted half as long as the original… Not bad guys…”
