Blue Ivy "Sings" with Beyonce and Melts Her Mama's HeartKacy Faulconer
Remember Beyonce’s steamy performance with her husband Jay-Z at the Grammys? Yes. It was pretty hard to forget.
The couple sizzled on stage and opened the Grammys with Beyonce’s hit “Drunk in Love” featuring a rap by Jay-Z. After hearing the song and seeing them perform it you almost feel like you were right there with them when little Blue Ivy was conceived. Ahem. Those two—they don’t leave much to the imagination.
If you liked them at the Grammys, you will absolutely lay down and die when you see what happened during rehearsal. I don’t know how or why or what is really happening but at the end of the song, performed by Queen Bey with choreographer Frank Gatson Jr. standing in for Jay-Z, you hear a little child’s voice saying (baby rapping?) “surfboard” along with Beyonce. Then, THEN, Bey says, “Hi Blue Blue.” and Blue Ivy, heir apparent to the Beyonce Jay-Z hip hop dynasty brightly says, “Hi mommy.”
At this moment Beyonce’s heart melts as does mine and as will yours. It is, hands down, the cutest thing ever in the history of Grammy performance rehearsals. Part of what makes it so fascinating is to see Beyonce all in the same second performing as a diva and sex symbol and then collapse into motherly sweetness that any person who ever loved their baby can relate to. I’ve never seen anything like it. You can watch the performance here. Skip to 4:40 to hear Blue Ivy chime in and to watch Beyonce’s reaction.
