Celebrity Inspiration: Traveling With Your Kids This Summer! (Photos)

By Joanna |

As I’m sure many families know, traveling abroad with children under the age of 10 is never easy to do. Not only do you have to deal with your own jet lag and packing and unpacking, but multiply the work by two or three or sometimes even four (when you want to count your significant other) and you end up feeling tired before you even step off the plane! While visiting wonderful cities such as London, Paris, or Rome always brings so many great memories and learning experiences for our little ones, it comes with a price (literally) and of course the exhaustion, too (unless you have a celebrity nanny in tow!).

When I travel with my two children, who are 5 and 3, there are always a few factors that I look into before booking my trip. I want to make sure that the pool area is family-friendly if we’re staying in a resort (no bachelor parties, thank you!), there’s easy transportation from the airport to the hotel, and that the children’s museum is easily accessible (and of course you also don’t want to have that seven hour layover at an airport, either!).

Sure, there are times when I sometimes come home from a vacation just to say, “I never want to do that again,” out of pure jet lag, but after coming to my senses a few days later, I always look back fondly at the memories I’ve made with my family and the experiences we’ve had together. Traveling after all is the best form of education for our children, right?

When it comes to the celebrity world, I’ve noticed that some celebrities LOVE to bring their children everywhere they go, no matter where that is, while some celebs like to leave the kiddos back at home (and sometimes their nannies even come, too!). Take celebrity mom Pink for instance. She recently took her daughter along for her European tour, and while 2-year-old Willow might not be able to remember her trip, I’m sure Pink enjoyed having her daughter with her on the road. The same goes with Beyonce who took Blue Ivy on her tour too, or even Jessica Alba who loves to travel with her 5-year-old daughter, Honor. Alicia Keys also spent sometime in Amsterdam biking with her son Egypt near the city’s gorgeous canals. I’m sure that these celebs had a blast making great mommy-and-me memories beyond the regular park play date back home in L.A.

Check out our photo gallery of some of our favorite celebrities who have recently taken their families abroad with them, whether for work or play — and tell us, do you plan on traveling with your family this summer and if so, where to?

And P.S.: The slide with Angelina Jolie taking her kids on a boat tour through the canals of Amsterdam was the same one I took this past week, and let me tell you, it was like having my own little celebrity mom moment, too! * Wink *
