You love EB White. Maybe you forgot that he wrote Charlotte’s Web, the first book that made you cry over the loss of a spider, but he did. And he wrote many other wonderful things — from children’s literature, to essays and letters about everyday life, to The Elements of Style which got you through Freshman English.
July 11th is his birthday.
EB White is one of my favorite writers. It is his companionable narrative voice that I try to copy in my own writing. Charlotte’s Web has been embedded into my psyche since my teacher read it aloud to us in 3rd grade. Who could ever forget “Some Pig,” or Templeton on a bender at the State Fair?
I’m not the only one to be inspired by the work of EB White. Take a look at this beautiful, cheerful art inspired by Charlotte’s Web.
