This weekend country singer Chely Wright and her wife Lauren Blitzer Wright became moms to identical twin boys.
According to news from their Reps, the Wrights named the boys George Samuel and Everett Joseph after their great-grandfathers.
In 20010 Chely famously became the first openly gay country star. She wrote a memoir, Like Me: Confessions of a Heartland Country Singer, about her experience of coming out and also released the album Lifted Off the Ground. She met her wife, Lauren, while doing advocacy work.
Chely and Lauren announced the news of their pregnancy on Howard Bragman’s YouTube series, Gwissues. When she announced her news in January Chely explained that they “are due in July, but with identical twins you typically have to deliver a month early.”
The boys arrived just a little early. “We are grateful for all the amazing medical care and the love and support of family and friends,” Wright, 42, tells People.
