Congrats to Laura Linney: She's Almost 50 and Just Gave Birth!

Laura Linney Gives Birth to a sonIn less than a month Laura Linney will celebrate her 50th birthday. I know this because she was one of the first slides I created for the ZOMG Gen X stars are turning 50?!! post I wrote earlier this month.

She looks amazing, her career is stellar, and she has one of the best attitudes on aging that I have ever read. It was a complete shock to read earlier this morning, via the LA Times, that Laura Linney had given birth to a baby boy on January 8th. It seems it was a shock to many!

Keeping a pregnancy off the radar in Hollywood is ridiculously hard and it is even more hard when you are a working actress who is still doing press for ongoing projects. Laura walked a red carpet as recently as June of 2013 and not a single press outlet speculated on a “baby bump.” I can only imagine what a relief that must have been for her as the world was in a frenzy over the pregnancy of Halle Berry and other celebrities over 40 who were pregnant.

The Los Angeles Times reports Laura and her husband, Marc Schauer, named their son Bennett Armistead Schauer.

I love the middle name and am guessing it is a nod to Armistead Maupin, the author who wrote the wonderful Tales of the City series. Laura starred as Mary Ann Singleton in the made-for-TV version that is considered to have launched her career.

Congratulations to Laura and Marc on the arrival of their son!
