First 24: Live Another Day Trailer Promises Another Crazy Day with Jack Bauer

kiefer-sutherland-2424 was the first show I ever binge-watched, although I didn’t know that was what it was called at the time. I was home sick one weekend and before I settled in, I went to the video store — this was a long time ago, when I actually had to leave my house to rent DVDs — and rented two seasons. Then I went home and watched them both in real time.

It was the perfect sick day show, and I would have enjoyed it even if I felt better. There were special agents and high drama, political tension and intrigue, and a very intense Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer. There was also something perfect about watching an entire season of a show that unfolds in real time in, well, real time. I don’t even remember what seasons of the show it was or what exactly happened, although it’s safe to say that Jack saved the President of the United States and various of Bauer’s own family members from certain danger.

It’s a fast-paced show. You really can’t look away.

Now Fox is bringing the franchise back with 24: Live Another Day, what they’re calling a “12 episode series event,” premiering on May 5. The trailer was released this weekend, and all I can say is there is a lot of action packed into this 33 seconds.

The show was filmed and set in London, where the President of the United States is visiting for what is sure to be a day of international intrigue and mayhem. Actors appearing besides Sutherland include Benjamin Bratt as head of the CIA, Dexter‘s Yvonne Strahovski as a CIA agent, The Wire‘s Gbenga Akinnagbe, William Devane, and Tate Donovan.

I can’t wait. Keep track of the #JackisBack hashtag if you want social media updates.
