Harry Potter's JK Rowling writes secret book!

Fans of JK Rowling listen up! She has secretly written a crime novel under the false name ‘Robert Galbraith.’

The Harry Potter author wrote The Cuckoo’s Calling, about a war veteran turned private investigator named Cormoran Strike, which was published in April. The secret was revealed when the UK’s Sunday Times newspaper wondered how a first time author could write something so accomplished!

Rowling said: “I had hoped to keep this secret a little longer because being Robert Galbraith has been such a liberating experience. It has been wonderful to publish without hype or expectation, and pure pleasure to get feedback under a different name.”

And what excellent feedback she has had! Although she has sold only 1,500 copies, The Cuckoo’s Calling  has been described by one reviewer as a “scintillating debut.”

Galbraith’s back story was that he had been a plain-clothes Royal Military Police investigator who had left the armed forces in 2003 to work in the civilian security industry. In fact he is none other than Rowling herself! No wonder one reviewer was so impressed that a male author understood women’s clothes so well.

And there is more news! Rowling has plans to publish another Cormoran Strike book by Robert Galbraith next year.
