Isla Fisher Has An “Open-House” Policy When It Comes to Her Friends’ Kids

islacosmoJPGI’ve had a girl crush on Isla Fisher since her breakout role in “Wedding Crashers” and for good reason. The hilarious and tremendously talented Australian beauty is not only a crafty actress — see her scene-stealing work as Myrtle in “The Great Gatsby” if you haven’t already — but she sounds like the best mommy friend you could have.

In the July issue of Cosmopolitan Fisher talks about her communal approach to childcare and how she often helps out her fellow sisters in the trenches of babydom.

“I have an open-house policy and a lot of my friends who don’t have access to childcare drop their kids with me,” she tells the magazine. “You’ll often find me in the playroom, surrounded!”

How sweet is that? Fisher has two daughters, Olive, 5, and Elula, 2, with her husband, the comedian Sacha Baron Cohen. She has always described herself as a homebody who doesn’t really dig the Hollywood glitz. She and Cohen are notoriously guarded about their private life. When Fisher was pregnant with her second daughter, they refused to comment and didn’t divulge the baby’s name for 6 months. Pretty unusual behavior this days as most actresses view every detail of their pregnancy as a publicity opportunity.

In the same article Fisher goes on to say that while Hollywood has been as tough and competitive a road as we all imagine it to be, she is often amazed by the support she’s received from other women.

After a recent audition a producer revealed to her that Naomi Watts was singing her praises. “She’d said, ‘She’s so funny, she’s a great actress — you should hire her.’  What a lovely, kind and supportive thing to do for another woman,” Fisher said.
