Jennifer Lopez on Dressing Your Age -- Or NotSarah Bernard
Obviously, J.Lo works out a ton. Her glowing skin must make even Kim Kardashian jealous. But knowing how to dress for her body type is also part of why she pulls it all together so well.
In the September issue of Redbook, Jennifer clues us in to style philosophy.
“If you’re showing a lot of leg,” she says, “Don’t do cleavage. If your dress is tight, it shouldn’t be short. You cross the line to trashy when you reveal a lot.”
In other words, balance.
Agree. But what about when you are are contemplating certain sexy pieces that are traditionally the provenance of a 25-year-old… is there an age at which you have to draw the line?
If you ask J.Lo, the answer is… not necessarily. That’s where self confidence — and self-awareness — comes into play.
“I don’t care who thinks I’m not the right age for something,” she explains. “Right now, I’m in love with leather pants! If you have the legs for a short skirt and can pull it off, do it. When it doesn’t feel right to you anymore, you’ll know it’s time to stop.”
So, would she still wear the belly button-baring, jungle-print Versace gown she so famously wore to the Grammys back in 2000? My guess is, of course.
