Another one of our favorite actors is publishing a children’s book!
Jim Carrey is adding author to his resume. Or do actors use vitas?
His book, How Roland Rolls, will be out this September.
“Jim Carrey is the perfect person to write a children’s book,” Sabrina McCarthy of Perseus Publishing, said. “He is such a vibrant, dynamic actor who brings amazingly vivid characters to life, and I think children will respond to the energy and enthusiasm he has brought to How Roland Rolls.”
It’s a story about a wave named Roland who’s afraid that one day, when he hits the beach, his life will be over. But when he gets deep, he’s struck by the notion that he’s not just a wave—he’s the whole big, wide ocean. The book shows humanity’s interconnectedness through the metaphor of a wave in the ocean.
Carrey believes that “everything we do that’s hurtful stems from a feeling of not being worthwhile, not feeling loved. Parents help their children feel worthwhile by being completely involved, spending moments together that are only about them. Through the loving attention of parents, children gain self-worth. Through the innocence of children, parents rediscover the wonders of life.”
It’s true. Also, Ace Ventura makes me laugh and laugh and laugh so this book will probably be excellent.
