That’s one way to look at Jimmy Fallon, Rashida Jones, and Carrie Underwood’s Thanksgiving night gift to viewers — a holiday medley that parodied several of 2013’s most popular songs.
Jimmy and Rashida kicked it off at the desk with “We’re Up All Night to Get Turkey,” an ode to Thanksgiving gorging that riffed on Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky”:
“Turn up that microwave son / we’re up all night to get turkey” segued into “I’m on the sofa, and you’re gonna hear me snore,” a spot-on parody of Katy Perry’s “Roar” that led into a Chanukah version of Lorde’s “Royals.”
Carrie Underwood joined them, singing “You made me cook a Butterball … and then a green bean casserole” over a Miley-themed backdrop of a space kitten. (I’m not kidding. Just watch the clip.) Next up was a disgruntled turkey-cooking version of Icona Pop’s “I Love It,” a Black Friday take on Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” and finally a Santa-themed Lumineers’ “Hey Ho.”
It’s so, so funny, and I don’t always say that about videos on the Internet, I promise. It’s worth the five minutes, anyway. Consider it a mental holiday break, from me — well, more like Jimmy, Rashida, and Carrie — to you.
