Johnny Depp to His Kids: "Please Don't Do What I Did"

Johnny Depp seen at David Letterman Show in New York CityI just can’t get my head around the fact that Johnny Depp turned 50 last month.

For a split second, when I hear his name, I still picture the puppy doggish teen heartthrob he was circa 21 Jump Street when I used to cut his photos out of Tiger Beat magazine.

Depp, who stars in The Lone Ranger as Tonto, seems pretty cool with the half century mark, though. He spoke to Charlie Rose on CBS This Morning about how he feels the major milestone “opened the door for more freedom in his life.”

Far more “frightening” he said is the fact that he’s got two teenagers on his hands — his kids with former partner Vanessa Paradise. Lily-Rose is 14 and son Jack is 11.

“You know you start getting hit with some very interesting situations in life,” he explained, “as a parent when they approach that teenage arena, which is frightening because you still have memories of that age and the things you were doing at that age…. please don’t do what I did.”

I’ve got a feeling that Johnny himself was probably a pretty interesting guy to know when he was in high school. Probably more Jack Sparrow than undercover officer Tom Hanson.
