On May 11th, the Duchess of Cambridge attended a good friend’s wedding in the very same polka dot Topshop dress she wore back in April to a tour of Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studios.
It’s a great dress. She smartly paired it with the same cropped black Ralph Lauren blazer, black pumps and black clutch as before and again completely nailed the black-and-white look of the moment.
If she wanted to, she could parade around in a different custom Alexander McQueen outfit on a daily basis. But this Duchess loves to shop at “regular” stores like Zara and the UK chain store Whistles. And when she does, her selections sell out in a matter of hours. This polka dot number was only available online, but quickly vanished moments after she was photographed in it last month.
The way Kate effortlessly toggles between couture and high street fashion is one of the many reasons I love her. Here’s another: Her thoughtfulness.
This is the second time she wore a “repeat” outfit to a friend’s wedding. Yes, perhaps it’s because she loved the look. But it’s also possible that she didn’t want to upstage the bride by showing off a brand new ensemble that would certainly have the paparazzi in a tizzy.
Inviting your good pals Kate and Wills to your big day is probably not without complications. But clearly, the Duke and Ductchess are enthusiastic and well-mannered attendees.
