Certain stars make the birth of their children family affairs, while others don’t even mind a whole TV crew. A whole crew! That’s like, what, at least four people you probably don’t know all that well? There were reports that Kanye West refused to allow any filming during the birth of baby North — except for Kris Jenner recording the occasion for posterity, that is. Time will tell if the footage ends up on E!, but going forward, might Kate’s choice set a precedent? Hard to say when you’re talking about folks who love an audience, even in the most intimate of moments. Have a look at other stars who felt more was merrier.
The Duchess of Cambridge 1 of 7
Early speculation had Kate's sister Pippa and mom Carole as being there for the royal birth, but in the end, Buckingham Palace denied the claim. As NBC correctly reported pre-birth on July 22, "She very much wants just her husband to be there."
Kourtney Kardashian 2 of 7
No surprise here. When Kourtney gave birth to Penelope on July 8th, 2012, her entire family was in the room as well as a TV crew. Kim, Khloe, brother Rob, half sisters Kendall and Kylie, and her partner Scott Disick were all on hand. The birth conveniently provided the Keeping Up With the Kardashians season finale.
Tamera and Tia Mowry 3 of 7
Not only was Tia was in the delivery room when her twin sister Tamera delivered her son Aden, she was so moved by the experience that she wrote an open letter to her sister on their blog to express her love and admiration.
Kate Hudson 4 of 7
When it was time for baby Bing to be born, Kate's mom Goldie Hawn showed up to the hospital with pizza and Doritos and a giant magnolia flower that she tried to use as a visualization prop to ease Kate's labor pains. Meanwhile Kate's fiancé, Matt Bellamy, was readying his flipcam to Kate's dismay.
Snooki 5 of 7
MTV cameras accompanied Snooki to St. Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey when she gave birth to baby Lorenzo last August. Footage of Snooki wearing leopard print while in labor aired on the second season of Snooki & JWOWW. The cameras left before the "little meatball" arrived, but dad Jionni LaValle took over with the camcorder.
Jennifer Lopez 6 of 7
J.Lo was in the delivery room when her younger sister Lynda had daughter Lucie, just six months after the singer delivered her twins, Max and Emme.
Holly Madison 7 of 7
Viewers had a front row seat for the emotional birth of Holly's first child, Rainbow Aurora. Interestingly, she chose to wear a pair of giant tube socks for the happy occasion. Seriously. The event became an E! special called, not surprisingly, Holly Has A Baby.
