Warner Bros. announced today that Jesse Eisenberg has been cast to play the iconic villain first brought to the big screen by Gene Hackman in the 1978 Superman.
Kevin Spacey took on the role in 2006 in Superman Returns. It will be very interesting to see what kind of slant Jesse brings.
Will it be the angsty awkwardness that he’s famous for? Will he be shaving his head? I think that’s a must. Lex can’t have bouncy curls.
In addition to Jesse, the other big news is that spooky Jeremy Irons will play Alfred, Batman’s butler/confidant.
The Man of Steel sequel isn’t slated to hit theaters until May of 2016 but the buzz from each casting announcement as well as the rumors of casting announcements should keep it in the headlines until then.
For a while there Bryan Cranston was reportedly the front-runner to play Lex. At least we knew he’d be comfortable going bald for a role.
