10 Lovely Handmade Items Inspired by Little Women

Louisa May Alcott was born on November 29, 1832 and died 55 years later. Her lifetime spanned the Civil War, and she wrote under the pen name A.M. Barnard. Not unlike the lovable, spunky Jo from Little Women, Alcott lived an interesting life. She was tutored by Henry David Thoreau and served as a station master for the Underground Railroad. You (or your daughter) can read about her life in the Newberry Award-winning Invincible Louisa by Cornelia Meigs. It’s a great book for ages 8 and up.
