Jessica Brody is pregnant! Well, sort of. Gorgeous Morena Baccarin who plays the long suffering wife of Marine-slash-terrorist Nicolas Brody (Damian Lewis) on “Homeland” has just announced that she’s expecting her first child with director Austin Chick, her husband of a year and a half.
Filming for season 3 of the series is set to begin this month (this month!) and it will be interesting to see if Baccarin’s pregnancy is written into the plot. We know that the show will pick up with Brody on the run, but this could be an interesting twist — and twists are certainly “Homeland’s” signature.
Baccarin, 33, will surely be getting maternity tips from co-star and new mom Claire Danes. Producers did not incorporate Danes’ growing belly into the script and she spent most of season 2 running from Abu Nazir (the show’s villain played brilliantly by Navid Negahban) wearing blazers and button-downs to hide her baby bump.
Such trickery would be a little more difficult with Baccarin’s character, however, as she spends — or at least has spent — a good amount of time in form-fitting clothes or no clothes at all. But you have to leave it to the show to pull out something unexpected.
This announcement has made me all the more excited to see what’s in store when “Homeland” returns to Showtime on September 29th.
Would you like to see Baccarin’s pregnancy written into the 3rd season? I’d love to know @SarahNBernard
