There is much to love about P&G’s new Olympic ad. It is a thank you note/love letter to moms. As a mom, this commercial wrecks me.
My son competes on his high school cross country team. He has surpassed me in athleticism (not hard to do) and expertise. At times I feel like he’s almost grown now and like he’s out of my hands. His coaches are the experts. I know nothing about running, but I did teach him to walk and run and ride a bike. I support him and feed him and wash his sweaty clothes.
I find it moving to see the looks on these moms’ faces in the commercial below. If you have young babies, you don’t know how it feels to see your older child drive, learn an advanced skill you never imagined they would accomplish, or hurt themselves. But I am telling you that you do know because it feels exactly the same as seeing your younger children walk, hold their own bottle or bump their head, which tells me that I am in for a lifetime of pride, delight, and worry.
Moms are always moms.
Take a look at this beautiful Olympic commercial that pays tribute to moms of athletes (and all moms). Get ready to feel all the feels — that’s parenting for you.
