President Obama Reads Where the Wild Things Are and Gets Totally into ItSunny Chanel
It’s no secret that President Barack Obama loves — not just likes — the Maurice Sendak masterpiece Where the Wild Things Are. He professed his adoration for the childhood favorite saying last year, “This is one of the all-time classics; I love this book.”
And love it he does — so much so that he read it yet again to the children at the Annual White House Easter Egg Roll. The reading of the book has become a staple. And this year President Obama got totally into it with fierce faces and guttural growls. Check out the Washington Post‘s tweet below; now THAT is a performance!

The White House also put up a short video of his rendition of the Sendak book that you can see right here.
I love that Obama has such a fondness for such an iconic and whimsical children’s book. It’s a bit edgy, a bit scary, can be a little sad, and was met with controversy when it was first released. It was one of my favorites growing up, and I just love to see that it is still so popular with preschoolers and presidents!
