Designer L'Wren Scott Found Dead at 49: What Happened to Mick Jagger's Girlfriend?Sunny Chanel
The fashion world lost one of their most talented designers this week; L’Wren Scott was found dead on Monday at her Chelsea apartment in New York City. While her outfits were worn by such luminaries as Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie and Penelope Cruz, she was also famous for being Mick Jagger‘s longtime girlfriend. L’Wren Scott has been linked to the Rolling Stone frontman for about 12 years.
According to reports, the 49-year-old ex-model, stylist and fashion designer took her own life with rumors that she hung herself from a doorknob. The 6′ 4″ American grew up in Utah and was raised Mormon; she was discovered as a teen and went off to Paris to model for such labels as Chanel and Thierry Mugler. She then changed courses, moving to Los Angeles to become a stylist for photographer Herb Ritts and working with some of the hottest celebrities — from Elizabeth Taylor to Sarah Jessica Parker.
After doing some costume designing for films, she launched her own label in 2006 and it became huge. Although her pieces are quite pricey, she recently partnered with Banana Republic on a more affordable line.
It is tragic that such a talented woman took her own life. It really appeared that she had it all — fame, fortune, beauty, a fulfilling career, and a rock star boyfriend. But this just proves again that you never know what kind of personal struggles someone may be wrestling with.
As for Mick Jagger, the Rolling Stones are currently on tour in Australia. He has not released a statement yet. Hours before L’Wren Scott’s body was found, Mick had tweeted out a photo of him on a beach in Perth looking cheery and happy. But as soon as the news broke, the tweet was deleted. According to a spokesman, Mick is “completely shocked and devastated by the news.”
