He thinks he’s actually going to be a pretty good dad, eventually. Cowell says, “I’m not brilliant with babies. I never know what to do. But [once he’s older] I think I’ll be a good dad in terms of advice. And then I’ll get to do all the things I want to do, like go to Disneyland or Universal Studios, teach him how to drive—I love all that.”
So he thinks he’ll be good at giving advice. Well, he certainly has experience giving advice to hopeful contestants on his show. I’m not sure many of them would describe the advice he gives as “fatherly,” but we’ll see. Perhaps he’ll take a more tactful approach with his own children.
As for looking forward to “getting to do all the things I want to do” when he finally becomes a parent, I wish him all the luck in the world with that.
Here’s how Simon likes to spend his Sundays now: “I’ll have breakfast in bed—usually oatmeal, papaya juice, and tea—then I’ll work out. One of my favorite things is watching a movie with someone I like on a Sunday afternoon when it’s raining. I’m an old soul, so I love black-and-white movies. And then 90 percent of the time on Sunday evenings, I’ll be working.”
Breakfast in bed, working out, watching black and white movies — all the things babies love most!
Mazel tov, Simon Cowell. I’m sure he will roll with the punches when his dream of parenthood is finally realized, just like the rest of us.
