With wedding season in full swing, the problem isn’t so much ‘What to wear?’ but ‘What to buy the couple who has everything?’
You could take a leaf out of the Korean wedding book, where traditionally the groom gives a pair of wooden ducks to the family of his intended, symbolizing peace, unity, and children. At the reception, the mother of the groom then throws one of the ducks (hopefully gently) towards the bride. If she catches it, superstition says she will have a boy first. If she drops it, a girl. The ducks are then displayed in the marital home. If the marriage is going well, the ducks are placed beak to beak, but of things aren’t so rosy, they are tail to tail.
But what of the wonderful celebrity world? Who wanted a mini pig? Or got toilet paper from the minister marrying them? Who asked for a £6,600 silk ($10,247) rug? And who got a ..er… tree?
