Which Couple Topped Forbes’ World’s Highest Paid List in 2013?

By Suzanne Jannese |

It probably won’t come as a surprise to find out that Forbes magazine’s World’s Highest Paid list for 2013 was topped by none other than songstress Beyonce Knowles and her rapper husband Jay Z.

The “Single Ladies” singer and Jay Z (who owns record label Roc Nation) took the crown for the second year running, having earned a staggering $95 million together in the financial year of June 2012 to June 2013. Incredibly, their business ventures (in clothing, perfume, etc.), tours, endorsement deals, and music sales meant they earned $17 million MORE than they did in the previous financial year.

Jay Z’s collaborative effort with Kanye West, Watch The Throne, produced a platinum-selling album and a world tour which earned a cool $1.4 million a night. Meanwhile Beyonce has raked in the cash on her Mrs. Carter world tour.

Second place went to supermodel Gisele Bundchen and her New England Patriots quarterback husband Tom Brady. They were a mere $15 million behind Beyonce and Jay Z, with combined earnings of $80 million. Gisele out-earned her husband by $4 million and doubled her wages from last year.

Meanwhile Oscar winner Angelina Jolie and her partner Brad Pitt earned a tasty $50 million for film roles and endorsements, such as the Chanel No.5 advertisement that netted Pitt a reported $7 million.

Two and a Half Men star Ashton Kutcher and actress girlfriend Mila Kunis came in fourth place, with a combined wealth of $35 million. Ashton is a savvy businessman, known for investing in successful technology start-ups.

The fifth spot was taken by Kanye West and his baby momma Kim Kardashian. The couple, parents of newborn baby girl North, have made their money through Kayne’s Watch The Throne tour, and Kim’s successful reality show Keeping up with the Kardashians and her various spin-off business ventures.

Oh to be on that list!
