The 38-year-old star appeared on the UK’s The Johnathan Ross Show and admitted he loves staying at home while his wife Victoria focuses on her fashion empire.
Asked by chat show host Jonathan Ross whether that makes him a house-husband, Beckham said:
“I really am. But I love it. I’ve been lucky, I’ve always been able to take the boys to school in the mornings and pick them up and make them dinner and things like that. So I do even more of that. I’m able to take all three of the boys to school and then I take Harper to her school for a few hours and then pick her up. I’m kind of like a driver at the moment, I’m always in the car.”
David had an illustrious career as a soccer player, captaining England for 6 years and being chosen as a runner-up for FIFA World Player of the Year twice. In 2004, at the height of his success, he was the highest paid soccer player in the world. However, he hung up his boots in May of this year, retiring from the game and leaving his wife, former Spice Girl Victoria, to become the breadwinner. Victoria has achieved great success as a designer, with celebs such as Cameron Diaz and Demi Moore wearing her frocks. Her company turned over more than £15 million last year!
David also commented on his wife’s success, saying:
“Victoria’s success has been really incredible and, it’s simple, she works really hard. She’s a great mother, of course, and she looks after the boys and Harper and that’s our priority and her priority, but she works really hard. The success that she’s had, she deserves.”
The Beckhams have returned home to make London their base, and David seems delighted with this decision. He said:
“We’ve been here since last December. We moved back because we wanted the boys to be educated in London and we’re loving it. I haven’t lived in London for a long, long time. So, to actually spend time here, to do the normal things like go to the pub with my mates, something I’ve not been able to do, is great.”
The Beckhams have four children, sons Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz, and daughter Harper — who David claims is taking after her mom in the fashionista stakes!
“The boys are arguing over what breakfast they want, and I’m trying to get them ready as well. But then I’m in the room with Harper trying to pick out outfits and anything which I pick out, which I think looks great, she puts back in. She’s two and a half!”
Sounds like Becks is doing a great job!
The Jonathan Ross Show airs on ITV in the UK at 10pm on Saturday.
