Who Said That? 13 Unexpected Celebrity Voices in Animated Films

With so many mega stars and character actors stepping into roles in animated films and TV shows, I am often running to search engines to find out who was the voice that sounded so almost recognizable. Celebrity voices in animated films are often surprising. (Don’t even get me started on voice-overs in commercials!) I have sat in the theater willing the cast credits to appear faster just so that I could satisfy that mental itch asking, “Where do I know that voice from?”

Then there are the stars who plumped up their early careers in voice animation. They began as kids behind a microphone and then moved up to being in front of the camera and on the big screen. One of the young stars of Despicable Me 2, Elsie Fisher, is on this sort of trajectory. Starting her career as the voice of the precocious and lovable Agnes, the actress is now making her move to traditional acting roles. The folks from Despicable Me shared an exclusive clip of Elsie voicing Agnes and you can clearly see she is headed for big things.

You probably recognize Meg Foster's piercing blue eyes from her portrayal as the mysterious Carla Grunwald on Ravenswood. Turns out the actress has a long history of playing sinister characters. Meg voiced the very evil, and very leggy, Evil Lyn who was Skeletor's second-in-command on He-Man.

Long before Fergie was a Kid Incorporated, she was a Peanut. The musician began her career as a voice actor, and she was the voice of Sally in many Charlie Brown episodes that were created in the early 1980s. (She also was the voice of Patty in a few episodes!)

This was the next role Joey accepted after the end of Gimme a Break, the show that launched his career. The voice of Dodger is Billy Joel's only acting credit to his name. He also contributed original songs to Oliver & Company.
