Every year British retail company Superdrug conducts a survey of 2000 women asking them who their top beauty icon is. Take a guess at who might have won it?
If you had a royalty on your mind, then you’re on the right track. For the third year in a row the winner of the most beautiful woman has been The Duchess of Cambridge, who gave birth to her first child, George, five months ago.
Kate Middleton, the 32-year-old royal, saw off competition from the likes of U.S. actress Angelina Jolie (no. 6 on the list) and megastar Beyonce (no. 3).
Simon Comins of Superdrug said: “Kate Middleton has secured her place in the nation’s hearts, and has cemented her position as a beauty icon. The Duchess is always immaculately presented, but is styled in a way the average person can relate to, and take inspiration from. Our customers definitely take note of Kate’s look — brunette hair colours and natural makeup have never been more popular, and it’s interesting that the majority of our top ten list this year have naturally brown hair.”
The survey also found that of the 2000 women polled, just under 50% are envious of the way celebrities look and 25% look to their favorites for inspiration on how to look. It seems we are very influenced by celebs.
However, included in the list of 100 women, Oscar winner, Helen Mirren (age 68) was at no. 11, Michelle Obama was at no. 18, and Sharon Osbourne at no. 48 — proving that you don’t have to be under 30 to be thought of as a beauty icon … hurrah!
