When I think back on the holidays I spent as a kid, memories of crafting homemade ornaments around the dining room table with my mom always come to mind. Maybe it’s for that reason that, for me, the holidays always involve little hand-crafted touches that just make the season feel complete. That said, not all of us are the savviest crafters and, even if we are, we’re all pressed for time during the crush of holiday parties and gift wrapping. Luckily, there are a ton of great apps and websites (and of course blogs… ahem) to turn to for inspiration and easy how-to’s.

Around here, the boys are obsessed with all things neon right now. (One even asked for neon skinny jeans for Christmas to wear with high tops!) Using the Fresh Paint app on our Surface tablet, we got a little crazy playing around with neon paint colors last weekend, which makes me think this garland is perfect for us this holiday season - plus it can be made in 5 minutes or less. While using my phone to brainstorm ideas for easy ornaments to make with the kids this year, I stumbled upon this gem using the Real Simple app to look up holiday inspiration. Have an old sweater that has seen better days? In just a few minutes you can turn it into ornaments by cutting out heart shapes and attaching ornament hangers.

DIY Coffee Filter Snowflakes 11 of 11
I love getting craft inspiration from Pinterest (who doesn't?) and the kids and I spied this one while playing with the Surface tablet one night planning our holiday decor. If you can use a pair of scissors, you can tackle this craft with ease - making pretty snowflakes from coffee filters! We're planning to hang a cluster in each of our windows.
