Probably the biggest key to success when hosting a craft party is to select a project that's simple enough that literally anyone can do it without frustration. Choose something that's relatively quick, too. A project that takes just an hour or two to complete is perfect!

To make things run as smoothly as possible, organize and stock your supplies in advance. Make sure to load up on lots of the basics that will be in high demand like scissors and glue, depending on your craft - that way no one is waiting for a turn! Sort everything into little bowls or baskets for easy grabbing.

Lend a hand to those of your guests who may not be comfortable with crafting by selecting a general color scheme for your project and limiting the available supplies to those colors. Keep the same thing in mind if you have any kind of pattern appearing on paper, ribbon or fabric. That way no matter how guests mix and match the supplies, the final product is sure to look great!

If your project involves paint, keep it to paints that are quick-drying and are easy to clean up in the event of spills. Avoid overly stinky and messy paints like spray paint and instead opt for acrylics and craft paints that will dry in time for guests to take home at the end of the evening.

To keep things fun, conversational and fuss-free, limit your guest list and keep things small! It's always so tempting to invite all your friends over at once, but a small group (no more than 6 - 8) is perfect for a craft party. This will also allow you to spend more time mingling and helping out those craft novices in the crowd.

  • Refreshments Are Key 7 of 9
Ideas for Hosting a Craft Party

Like any good party, you'll want to serve up a few treats and refreshments for your crew of crafters. Especially for craft parties, my preferred method is to always pre-mix one cocktail to serve up in a dispenser along with staples like sparkling water, lemonade or tea. This makes it super easy for guests to help themselves in between crafting.

If you're like me and love to send guests home with a little token by which to remember the evening, I suggest keeping it to something crafty! A handful of washi tape rolls bundled together with ribbon would be perfect and it's budget-friendly, too.

When thinking about planning your craft party, consider the time of year and keep things timely! This time of year it might be something related to gardening or outdoor decor. For fall you might make a pretty fall garland or something back-to-school themed. Whatever you decide to do, keeping your project relevant to the season will instantly excite your guests!
