A "Red, White, & Coo" Baby Shower for Military Families

Forty expectant military moms-to-be from Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, N.C. gathered for a baby shower thrown in their honor by Operation Shower on April 13. Operation Shower is a non-profit organization that provides baby showers for military families. All of the women that attended had husbands who were deployed overseas, and most would still be away when their babies were to be born. There were many surprises in store for the women!

There was a “Shower in a Box” filled with baby essentials like diapers, wipes, towels, and blankets. In addition, Pottery Barn Kids was raffling off a Madison 3-in-1 Crib as a grand prize. Little did the attendees know, everyone would be receiving one!

First Lady, Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden each made surprise guest appearances to show their support for Operation Shower, but more importantly to show their support for the moms-to-be. Martha Stewart was also in attendance, conducting a scrapbooking demonstration.

The shower was styled by Hostess With the Mostess in patriotic red, white, and blue. Massive bunches of red flowers, striped curtain panels, and paper daisies made the shower look spectacular.

What an amazing event for some very deserving women!
