All Natural Make-up at a Reasonable Price!
I am a big advocate of natural and organic makeup and skin care lines. Most makeup carries some pretty scary ingredients and I see no point in putting that on my face. My favorite line is Boots Organic/Botanical lines because it’s all natural, it’s inexpensive, and it works! I’ve tried out a lot of natural makeup lines (expensive ones too) and never been super happy with anything until I tried Boots. The best part is…..
This line is available at most Target stores and online! I love how convenient and inexpensive it is now to support natural and organic, even when it comes to beauty products! I can’t wait for them to add more products to the organic line! See the entire skin care and make-up line here.

Unfortunately, this makeup is not so safe
One of the main ingredients in the powder is Talc which is toxic. Parfum is labelled as Fragrance, not essential oils, which means they could be a combination of any chemicals, as it’s not mandatory to list what the “fragrance” is made off. The blush is made with Dimithecone which is also toxic, so it looks like this line may be a product of “greenwash”. It’s great to see this posted though, so we can all learn more.

@JADE SHELDON: Talc is toxic? The mineral talc is the softest mineral known. It is insoluble in water, acids and alkalis because it is completely inert. If it were toxic it wouldn’t be used as an ingredient in chewing gum, in various medication (pills), or to make food-grade plastic containers and films, to name but a few of its multiple uses.
You might be referring to the fact that cosmetic talc is suspected of being one of a number of possible risk factors that may be associated with causing ovarian cancer.
Ovarian cancer has so many possible causes – both hereditary and environmental – that it almost impossible to conclude that talc use is a contributing risk factor.
The concern that talc might be carcinogenic might be attributed to the fact that in the past (1970s or earlier) some talcs may have been contaminated with fibrous or asbestiform minerals that could have posed a health risk. As a result of awareness of the health risks posed by exposure to asbestos minerals, all major cosmetic talc suppliers now take every precaution to ensure that the talc they sell is pure talc completely free from any harmful contaminants.
Thus branding talc as “toxic” is very misleading and alarmist.

The Botanics line is not natural and chemical-free. Check out their website for ingredient lists – many of them contain parabens and phthalates, as well as many other chemicals. For anyone reading this: If you’re concerned about the chemicals in your cosmetics, I definitely encourage you to read the ingredient lists carefully! Sadly, many cosmetic companies use the word ‘natural’ VERY loosely. Fortunately, there are many companies out there who are actively creating natural cosmetics – there are good alternatives, you just have to look for them.
