We recently rounded up dozens of the most popular baby carriers — from the Bjorn to the Ergo to the Sakura Bloom sling — and picked our very favorites in various categories.
While your carrier choice is largely based on your lifestyle and preference, we found that the very best option for newborns and infants is a baby wrap carrier. These baby wraps — most notably the Moby Wrap and the Baby K’Tan — are made from a thin cotton fabric, perfect for frequent rocking, bouncing and swaying. And while the competition was tough, we overall preferred the Baby K’Tan for it’s easier-to-use design and snug fit.

Baby #3 is due in a couple months and a Baby K’Tan would really help me out when he or she arrives. I’d love to just sit and snuggle the newborn, but my 5 y.o. and 2 y.o. will still need Mommy’s help too. I had a really bad carrier with my first child and subsequently rarely used it. I recently gave birth to our second child 6 weeks premature. Your carrier was suggested to me by another mother with a child in the NICU for kangaroo care/skin to skin contact. My daughter Amelia is 5 weeks old and quite a chunk at 13 pounds. She has her days and nights a bit mixed up and I find myself pacing, swaying and dancing around the room at two in the morning. This gets to be exhausting since Amelia has very long waking periods and does not like to be put down or for you to sit down and since I have no help right now while my husband is in Afghanistan. I have been an avid Maya Wrap user for years and I would like to try the K’tan carrier with our next child… We have had 3 and our third child was killed back on June 19th 2010… (he was almost 10 months old) Using a maya wrap again might be hard for us.. My husband and I are now trying for baby #4 and are very excited to have little feet in the house again… I love to cary my babies everywhere.. I am curious how easy it is to nurse using the K’tan…

I have limited mobility in one of my arms due to an elbow injury. I am currently pregnant with my first baby. I want a wrap that would be easy to get on and for the baby to be close. Moby is too much fabric and difficult to tie. The K’Tan was recommended by my cousin who is a baby carrying guru!

I’ve heard so many great things about this carrier! My 1st baby is due next month and I still haven’t gotten a sling for her yet. I truly believe it’s vitally important to keep your newborn as close as possible, for both comfort and to make them feel secure. I’m a newbie/to-be mom and I really found this review of baby carriers helpful. I was definitely sold on the K’Tan, but I might also get one of the Kelty hiking carriers so my husband can have something manly to wear and “share the load” on our hikes!

I’d love one because my first child was a reflux/colic screamy baby. I didn’t know about wraps or slings until he was already 6 months old!
I am pregnant with #2 now (4 years later, thanks to reflux PTSD!) and would LOVE a good wrap to help calm baby girl in case we have another baby like our first. The sling I ended up using for my son was not very comfy, and I’ve only heard amazing reviews of the Kai!
Plus, baby #2 = no baby showers, so it’s unlikely I’ll be getting one as a gift!

This looks awesome! I am intimidated about starting with a Moby or other such one-long-cloth wrap. This is my first baby and I know I will be worried in the beginning about slippage, etc. The K’Tan looks like a great way to start off with babywearing!

I am expecting my third child in late December. I had my last baby 8 years ago, their are so many new products out there to help mommies, i would love to have a baby K’tan. It would in a sense help me feel more empowered. Running after an 11-8 year old is not easy, and i wouldn’t want baby sissy to miss out on any of their crazy antics
Made my own slings with my first two girls and they worked great. Problem is I made them to fit tiny little baby girls, I now have a big chubby baby boy who doesn’t fit in the slings. Making a new custom sling isn’t in the cards right now as I am happy with myself if I get everyone dressed and out the door in a day. The K’tan looks supportive and comfortable and much better than trying to cram my boy into a sling like a sausage. And I will love you forever if I win, because I never win anything.
I love the idea of attachment parenting. My mom wore me when I was a baby, and my baby loves it when I “wear” her. The problem is that my baby is too small to fit into most Bjorn-type carriers, so I sling her into a homemade sling, but I don’t feel confident about its safety. I tried the Baby K’tan,and LOVE it, so this would be great!

This would be so helpful for me. I’m a single mom of a colicky 3 week old. I love holding him all the time, but I have Lupus which has caused arthritis in my shoulders and back. I have tried several other baby carriers and he has not been held close enough to feel secure. After reading about the K’tan I feel this would be an excellent solution for his security, my being able to have some arm freedom, and some weight distribution to take some pressure off of my back.
