As a working, single mom, the phrase “school’s-out-for-summer,” doesn’t mean a thing to me. So, my 2 1/2-year-old son, JD, is staying in school 3-days-a-week–only his school is now considered…summer camp. Think balloon art, ponies and petting zoo, bird watching and more–much more. Like, splash days! Of course these special days require special attire. Bathing suit, swim shirt and closed-toe swim shoes. Well, I had the first two covered, but I didn’t have swim shoes that would pass (JD just had flip flops and sandals in the closet). Lucky for my son, I love shoe shopping, so off we went to Stride Rite. What did we buy?
The Sperry Top-Sider Lagoon is two amazing shoes in one. This sneaker/sandal is ideal for playground and poolside play. This hybrid shoe has a hook-and-loop closure for security (anyone with a toddler on the go will appreciate this!), a recycled rubber outsole for traction (say bye-bye to slipping ‘n sliding) and a leather and neoprene upper to keep feet dry and safe. The toe closure also cuts down on injury, making this shoe a great pick for kiddos in camp, since teachers and counselors won’t just be watching your tot, but several at a time.
We chose brown/orange, and they are also available in blue/black. They were $45, but are on sale now for $39.99 at StrideRite.com
