There was a lot (and I mean A LOT) of 3D video stuff at CES this year. And for serious 3D enthusiasts there were a lot of video camera options to check out. But if you’re looking to get your feet wet with a consumer version of a 3D video camera, the one to wait for I think is the Sony “3D Bloggie” video camera.
For an MSRP of $249.99, the Bloggie will shoot video in 3D 1080p. You can then watch the video on a 3D capable television, or you can upload the video to YouTube where YouTube will automatically convert the video to the kind of 3D video that works with the red and blue 3D glasses (shown below). The quality won’t be as good as viewing it on a 3D TV, but at least you can share the video on YouTube with your friends.
Because the screen is small, you can actually view the video on the back screen of the device in 3D without the glasses. It will also take 2D video and stills, but not 3D stills (you could though freeze frame one frame of video for a still though). The camera comes with 8GB of internal memory resulting in about 4 hours of 2D video at 1080p (there is no external memory card slot).
The Sony 3D Bloggie will be available around April for an MSRP of $249.99
