Customize Your Rug (and Maybe Hide a Stain at the Same Time)

By Nicole Balch |

This is a little bit of genius. There’s a new product out there that let’s you customize your rug so that you can have exactly the pattern you want, in exactly the colors you want. I’ve seen people try to DIY rug transformations with paint, but Vecco is specifically made for the job. And here’s where the genius part comes in: it isn’t permanent until you seal it. If you make a mistake, just vacuum it up and start again!

Now that in itself is pretty great, but I can’t help but think there is a second use for it. Wouldn’t it be a fantastic way to cover up a stain on an otherwise perfectly good rug? They aren’t marketing it that way, but take a look at how it works and check out these examples. I think it would be good solution for revitalizing a slightly stained carpet. What do you think?

And if you’re in Chicago, drop by the grand opening tonight to see how it works in person. Monica Pedersen of HGTV will be there as they roll out the red carpet.

Awesome idea! Important to note that their website says it only works on shag and cut pile rugs. Alas, I’m a berber carpet and woven rug kinda gal…
