Every now and then I get in a living room rut. Sure, my living room still looks like it did the last time I decorated, but now I’m bored with it and think it’s in desperate need of a facelift. Sound familiar? Since doing an entire living room makeover can be quite expensive, I figured out some ways that I can switch things up without breaking the bank. The thing about redoing your living room is that you really don’t have to change all that much for it to look like a different space. In fact, some of the best ways to give your living room a makeover take just a matter of minutes! To help you (me) out, I have collected some pretty great ideas to help you revamp your living room in no time! These easy tips and tricks to transform your space will make you feel less guilty about being so uncommitted to your current design. Here are some quick-fixes:
This seems super simple and easy, and it mostly is, however sometimes it can be hard to put things where they “don’t belong.” Putting the lamp on the other end of the couch can take some getting used to, but if you can do it, you totally should. Maybe get a friend’s help doing this since the furniture can be quite heavy and it also helps to have a second opinion when placing things in new spaces. It’s incredible what a little rearranging of the furniture can do for the space and for you. You will feel like it’s a completely different room!
Focus on the Walls
It’s amazing what even one wall of wallpaper can do to transform your room. Even if you don’t change much of anything else in the space, adding some color and pattern to one of the walls will make the whole room feel new. And for those of us who can’t commit or who are renting, there is removable wallpaper that you can easily take down and switch out when you are feeling like things are needing a change … which we all know will happen sooner than it should!
Add One New Thing
Okay, so as much as I love being thrifty and not spending a lot of money, sometimes you just need a single new pretty thing in your living room to satisfy your design cravings. Whether it is something as small as a few trinkets for the bookshelf or something as large as a new couch, buying one new thing can often make the whole room suddenly feel much better than it was before!
