Eat my Cake, Barbie: Handmade Dolls with Attitude

If you don’t think dolls are hip, you might change your mind after reading this post. I’m totally smitten and happen to think these are the most rad dolls ever. Yes, I’m aware I used the words “rad” and “dolls” in the same sentence.

You see, I’ve always loved Barbie Dolls, so when I saw the phrase, “Eat my cake, Barbie!” I had to see what all the fuss was about. What I discovered was a one-of-a-kind collection of dolls – all made by hand with no sewing machine. Welcome to the Doll Farm and enjoy the ride. It’s vintage wool and all types of cool.

All of these amazing, quirky dolls are made from vintage wools, fabrics and accents. Each doll is made with plenty of love and attention and according the Queen of the Doll Farm herself, they take “forever” to make. I totally believe her.

What comes together to make a doll like this? Well, the amazing special order Alice in Wonderland doll (pictured below) is made from cotton fabrics, wool felt, DMC floss, moon stones, glass beads and pink jade. All of the dolls on The Doll Farm are backed with solid color felt and come with a hand drawn tag.

You can shop for these dolls on Etsy or experience her latest creations on The Doll Farm blog. Talk about incredible keepsake gifts – wow.
