Enter the Smart Camera!Nicole Balch
I just got back from an event in Palm Springs, California. I had been there last year, and I’d brought my big DSLR camera because I knew I wanted better shots than what I could get on my phone (which I also brought). Carrying my camera and heavy zoom lens was cumbersome though, and my camera bag took the place of my purse, limiting my plane carry-on abilities.
I was surrounded by a pretty social-media-savvy crowd. Many of the attendees were bloggers, myself included, but just about everyone was instagramming everything in real-time. I kept finding myself torn between using “the good camera” and using my phone, and I wished there was a way to meld the two. So yay Samsung for reading my mind!
I’m going to be trying out the new Samsung Galaxy Camera. Not a camera-phone, as I assumed when I first read it, but a plain old camera. Except new, and fancy. The camera has the capability to take great photos (with an optical zoom instead of digital, and a low f/2.8 aperture), and the ability to edit and share them right from the phone.
I’m looking forward to trying it out, especially since the holidays are upon us. My husband and I already have our hands full with two little kids, a diaper bag, and my purse when we visit our families to get together. Adding a bulky camera weighs us down further, but I’m often disappointed by my phone’s built-in camera (especially indoors, in low light). I can see this new camera being really useful.
A big thanks to Samsung for sponsoring this campaign. Click here to see more of the discussion.
