Gorgeous Art Kits

Djeco art kits

These art kits for children, by French company Djeco, are so much more, well, artistic, than the usual color-by-number fair. Each kit introduces a different medium or technique, such as felt pens, gouache or abstract art.

While they call themselves color-by-number, there are no numbers on the pictures, which are printed on thick cardstock, ready for framing. Instead a series of instructions shows how to apply the different patterns and techniques, allowing for individuality while introducing new ideas. They are quite a bit more than other kits, starting at $22 for four prints, but given the quality of materials and instruction, they’re worth it for older children.

You can find many of the kits at Barnes and Noble and the full collection, including less complicated kits for younger children, on Amazon.
