Ikea Minnen Toddler Bed – A Bed That Grows With Kiddo
The Ikea Minnen Extendable Bed is my daughter’s bed of choice. In effort to make the transition from crib to toddler bed a little smoother, I took her to Ikea and allowed her to pick out her own bed. I’m so happy she picked the Minnen bed because it’s my favorite too. Here it is in her room…
Curious about the tape on the floor? That’s a trick we use to get her to stay in her room at night. Learn about it here: The Tape Trick. Find out more about the Ikea Minnen Toddler Bed after the jump…
The Ikea Minnen Toddler bed is wider than a traditional toddler bed – it’s the same width as a twin. It is about half the length of a twin bed to start, then it extends once about 1.5 feet, then a third time to reach full twin size. This has been great for us as we have a small space for Scarlet’s bedroom and we’d like to keep the bed as small as necessary for the time being. Ikea also sells a 3-part mattress to fit, which you add on in pieces. It sounds strange but it actually quite comfortable. For sheets, we just use twin size sheets and tuck them under the mattress which has worked well. The bed costs just $149. The look of the bed is girly, but not frilly so it can grow with her as her tastes change.
It’s steel with a powder coating in black or white. The matching minnen toddler table and chairs are adorable as well and also reside in my daughter’s room.

Adorable bed! I’ve been looking for a good bed for my daughter!
We have the white one…it is fabulous!!
Is IKEA still selling this bed? Their website has a picture of this bed in a picture of an entire bedroom, but I cannot seem to order it online. Also, when I enter the model number, it doesn’t bring it up either…
Heather, I bought this bed just yesterday. If you call your local ikea you will probably find it. I love this bed, bought a while ago for my eldest and just went to pick up the same bed for my youngest so she can share a room with her sister
I just saw the bed in the showroom (it is only sold in white now) in West Covina, CA. It is not on the website however and it is not sold online. I’d call around to different stores directly.
This gramma wants to use the bed in her porch, but the 200 pounds she weighs could be a problem. Is it sturdy enough for Granny?
